I was having a similar problem recently. I checked Firewall settings, Which I ended restoring to defaults & started over again. Checked for spyware issues. Looked in Firewalls `HELP` which helped, it explained how firewalls works with ISP addresses & other`s IP addresses. I also deleted cookies & set permissions to some files/applications within the `My Computer` icon. [well scared I`d mess up] BUT!
After stumbling in the dark! doing all of above! the PC, `seems, Is keeping good time!!

I had that problem with an ANCIENT computer I used to have. There was virtually no hard drive space to spare, and the antivirus program had gotten huge and clunky, and later was found to have security issues itself. By the way, I'm talking about Pentium when I say ancient computer.

Try this: Run an antivirus scan. Then run an anti-spyware scan. After that, defrag the computer. Check your modem and make sure it's not going haywire on you. And yes, talk with your ISP and find out what's going on at their end.

Good luck!

Sounds like you are on dial-up....need to switch to something bigger....or else your ISP is too small for the business they have and they need more servers. You get what you pay for. I have cable high speed internet. I switched from dial up years ago and I never have a problem. I also found that cable high speed is cheaper anyway. Hope this helps!

Phone BT and they will send an enginneer round to fix all problems for £75 pound for the first hour and then £30 for every half our after that. So if it takes three hours to sort it out, you may as well give him your computer.
