If someone skipped last year in reporting their taxes and they are getting a refund, what penalty can they expect, if any?

Also, how should this be handled? Should they report it along with this year's or report it seperately?

Thanks.

you will have to report it seperately. I didnt file last year on time either. But expect(ed) a refund. I was sick and didnt get it done before the deadline. and didnt get it done by the extension time either.
What you can expect is a late filing penalty, which will be taken from what your refund would be. if the penalty is more than the refund then you will have to pay.

You have to file it seperately still.

You might not be due a refund at all because the penalty for not filing can add up. I would consult a CPA if I were in your shoes.
