I'm compiling a "Movies to Watch" list to start watching GOOD films when the mood strikes rather than take time to search for a good movie and then have little time to enjoy the film.

I also love having a list so I can have list of films I'm actually WAITING to see rather than a random flick.

** Strictly Ballroom
(very silly beginning, but you make it thorugh the first 15 minutes, it turns out to be a gem of a film. This was Baz Luhrman's first effort)
** Whale Rider
(from New Zealand; a very lyrical film)
** Into the West
(Irish, one of Gabriel Byrne's best roles, even though the real stars are the kids and the horse)
** Groundhog Day
(this one is actually a lot smarter than it seems at first glance)
** Dead Poets Society
(even thought it was a mainstream film, you really should see it if you haven't already)
** The Mission
(haunting and brilliant, beautifully filmed)
** Hotel Rwanda
(Devestating. Everyone should see this film.)
** Chariots of Fire
(Oscar winner in the early eighties; a film about sticking to your convictions)
** Kolya
(Czech, with English subtitles - about the Velvet Revolution)
** Rashomon
(Japanese, with English subtitles - often copied, the title is even used in psychology to describe a particular effect)
** Casablanca
(a classic)
** Bringing up Baby
(Katherine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, one of the funniest things I've ever seen.)

Enjoy!

Okay. Let me search out my Netflix list. I also love indie/art/foreign/old films and dance films in particular, but I know not everyone is compelled by dance films and so will avoid them for the most part:

- Monster
- Thank You For Smoking (haven't yet seen)
- Mad Hot Ballroom (haven't yet seen)
- Shaun of the Dead
- Ma Vie en Rose (in French, English subtitles, _really_ good)
- Titus (w/ Anthony Hopkins)
- Dr. Strangelove
- Clockwork Orange
- Being There
- Naked Space (w/ Leslie Nielsen)
- Fight Club (cult classic)
- American Beauty (if you haven't already seen it)
- Hotel Rwanda
- Crash (if you haven't seen)
- Amelie
- Little Miss Sunshine
- Side Effects
