Well, I think there are two types of emos: The actually depressed ones and the ones that just dress like emos.
Generally, the "EMOtional" people who are actually depressed will not want to talk to very many people, and dark clothes. Although anyone can suffer from emotional pain. Most people who suffer from depression can actually seem quite normal, if not overly happy.
What I think you are refering to as "emo" is: guys who wear makeup and skinny jeans and long sleeves and always have their hair in their faces.
Keep in mind that there IS a difference between goth and emo, and that is this: Emos hate their lives, but goths hate everyone.
That really pained me. I hate to label people.

Most of these people are totally wrong. they're thinking of scene style
Emo is short for emotional. and the emo style mostly consists of vintage like khakis (sp?), old worn skinny jeans, and sometimes thick rimmed classes. the clothes that a just a bit different, and rebel from what the average crowd wears. Its not all black. thats just a stereotype. "emo" people are also known to be music freaks. which is very true. :) I love music, and I listen to it 24/7.
Like I said "emo" is short for "emotional" so sterotypically people expect "emos" to hate everything and cut our wrists, etc. which is also not true. Don't listen to everything your teenie bopper friends that think they know everything tell you.

emo means Emotion which means they are depressed or cry a lot. they usually dress in completely black. theres not really a way to GO emo...it just happens.

Emo stands for emotional. They do listen to a lot of hardcore music... their is "emo" music though, its a genre. They do not typically wear a lot of black. They usually wear band tee's, guys usually wear tight jeans, and vans. For all of you that said they wear a lot of black, you have them confused with goths.

Emo is an abbrieviation for emotionally-driven Hardcore punk, They dress in black, punk style clothes, striped shrts, socks, emo fringe etc. You don't 'become' emo .... dress like them and act like them while listening to their music and wallah ! ... instant emo... oh and talk about death .... alot

emo's are depressig. they talk about death and how life sux's. they wear they're hair in front of their faces. they were black. emo is not cool.
