I have a book called "Scarne on Card Tricks" it will explain how to do well over 100 card tricks.
One of my favorites that is not in there is really simple. You stack a deck of cards by suit in numerical order. Then you ask a person to cut the deck thirteen times. Make sure that the person only does one cut at a time. When the cuts are done. deal out the cards into thirteen piles, going across and then returning to your starting point.. When the trick is done have the person point to one stack. flip it over. If you did the trick correctly the stack will have all the same number i.e. Jacks. all thirteen stacks will be like this.
Note: do not let the person know the deck was stacked.

If you want an awesome card trick, you'll have to order it, go to http://www.dreamlandmagic.com/ and on the right near the top in the best sellers list click the hummer card trick. It's frickin' awesome I've got it and I've had a lot of fun with. You can throw the card and make it 'boomerang back to you. you can also make ti float onder your hand whil sping. It's a great trick, it's only $12.00 and it's well worth it! Watch the video for a demonstration.

Most card tricks are slight-of-hand or mathematical in nature. The best (I find) is psychological and goes roughly like this:
While chatting with the trickee (!), shuffle the cards so they can see, keeping the bottom of the deck in your view. Make a mental note of the bottom card and place the whole deck in a back pocket or some out-of-view place on you. Easiest if bottom card is A,K,Q,J or 2,3,4,5, but this does not matter too much.
Tell your victim you will draw out the card they want and immediately begin asking these questions (we'll say you know the Jack of Clubs is on the bottom) :
OK. What are the four suits? (they answer)
Now! Pick two!! Any two!! Doesn't matter!!! ( they answer... say, Hearts and Spades as an example - remember you are 'leading' them to say Clubs.)
All right! What suits are left? (Diamonds and Clubs)
Good. Pick one of those - doesn't matter! (Diamonds)
And what is left? (Clubs)
[What you have now done is gotten them to say 'Clubs' - so they believe they picked the suit. Just 'lead' them... for example, if they said Clubs in your second last question - "Pick one of those"
then say..OK!!! You have picked Clubs!.]
Now repeat the type of questions above, except for card, not suit...
OK. Now, what are the top four cards in any suit? (Ace, King, Queen, Jack)
Good. Now pick two of those.....
and so on until you have made them pick the Jack.
Congratulate them!!! Good!!! You have picked the Jack of Clubs
(They didn't, of course, you made them!!!)
The Clincher: All right! You want the Jack of Clubs!!! I'll pick cards out of my pocket one at a time... which one would you like to be the Jack of Clubs? (They say, the 5th one, as an example).
You start picking cards off the TOP of the deck in your pocket... picking the 5th off the bottom - the Jack of Clubs!!!
Works every time!!

Visit www.videojug.com. There is a fantastic magician on there who shows you what to do step by step - even the one where you throw the cards at the glass and your card appears behind it!
