I am thinking of buying a wi-fi card with my zire 72. How is the browsing experience?

I've done it. Browsing that way isn't perfect. The built-in Palm browser can't handle all web pages, for example sites with frames, those relying heavily on Flash, and other advanced sites. Also the 320x320 screen can be a major limitation when most sites are designed for 800x640 or 1024x768. Fortunately you have 3 options of how to view pages: Optimized for the Zire (the page is squished down so that you don't have to scroll back and forth) Wide Page, so it looks like the page was designed to look (but you have to scroll back and forth to see the whole thing), or Mini View, which is like wide page, but zoomed out so you can see everything at once (though the text is usually too small to read). Between those three, most standard webpages can be viewed reasonably.

Speed is pretty good, although it sometimes takes a bit of waiting to view pages with heavy graphics when using a view option that shrinks them down.

On the whole, if you can spare the money for the card, I suggest you go for it. I've never regretted buying mine; it has come in handy in airports, libraries, and classrooms. You won't be able to do advanced stuff, but basic searching, browsing, and email is no problem.
