I moved all of the components from my computer to a new case, adding a new mother board, hard drive and power supply. I have power to the computer and monitor, but there is no display on the screen. Any ideas what could have gone wrong?

First, check to see that your video card is installed all the way in the PCI-Express (or AGP) slot on the board. Some video card need a power connector from the power supply.

Second, make sure the RAM are seated correctly in the right memory slots. Incompatible or bad RAM can prevent the system from booting up (black screen).

Third, most boards have now a 12v P4 plug on the board (or even another 12v molex power connector). Make sure they are firmly connected. Check the ATX connector as well to be sure it is firmly connected.

and lastly, you may need to clear the CMOS settings. Your motherboard's manual should refer you to how clear the settings (usually by moving the jumper on the board, near the CMOS battery).

start over again. you will need to check and "hear" if you get the beep from the bios telling you that everything is good (even if you can't see it) that will tell you if it's just a bad vid card. chances are that it's a MB issue in which either the memory is not correct.(check speed/timing and of course the density etc.. the processor is not seated & secured or the mb is just not working.. this is where you may find you need to secure someone that knows something about computers to swap components 1 at a time to find the one which is not working.

Good luck

many things could be the problem first, is everything else seem to be working? like when it turns on, does it go through the POST beeps? are the fans spinning, etc. next, are all your components seated correctly? sometimes when reinstalling compunents, things don;t get pushe in all the way. try to remove you video card (try onboard video here if you have it) power on the computer, turn it back off, and reinstall teh card. next try a different video card. if that one works, it might be the vodeo card itself. it might not be a bad idea to try the monitor on a different computer just to make sure that is working. check in the manuels for the mobo and the video card for any FAQs or tips that might explain this, also check out the online forums (just search for your video card and you mobo) other than that i do;t know.

good luck

Did you ensure that you place the graphics card in the correct place.. or that the graphic card is compatible with the new Motherboard?

More unlikely however is that you could have damaged the cards with static charge.

Your MotherBoard may require a new driver to be installed, via a CD that may have come with the MotherBoard.

I think u have selected resolution which is not comptible with ur moniter. When the computer starts , constantly press F8. Display will be ok. then go to Display Properties and change the resolution(i.e change it to lower value)
