In the first place Nation of Islam Muslims are real Muslims. If my reading of the Koran is correct (yes some Christians aren't afraid of other faiths) any man who submits to the will of Allah and states that only Allah is worthy of praise is a Muslim.
Now, let's get to what this is really about. If people want to oppose Obama then fine oppose him, but do so because you believe he doesn't have the experience to be president. Or, and here is a leap of faith for liberals and conservatives, just be honest and say you won't support him because he is black.
Making up stuff, scarring up stuff that isn't moving America anywhere. If you are being genuinely curious go to the bookstore and buy his two best selling books and let him tell you about him.
And what if he is a Muslim, Lieberman is Jewish, Kennedy was catholic and I believe the Republicans have a Mormon thinking about entering. Who cares? Is this America or Iran? Are we electing a president or a mullah?
Oh by the way he also is a smoker (cigarettes) and that habit, like being a Muslim (which by the way he isn't) is legal.
I wasn't even going to support him but I am now. You know why? Because he is Black. Maybe that illogical action will balance out those who will oppose him for the same reason.
ASIDE: one of you mentioned in passing that guy who substituted the Koran for the Bible. Don't show such ignorance. All house members were given the oath the way they are every year in mass by the Speaker of The House in the house chamber (it was televised live on CSPAN for those who need proof).
Representative Keith Ellison D-Minn used a Koran in his private ceremony, just like Jews use a torah, Christians use a bible and atheist use a tuna fish sandwich because the ceremony is unofficial.

He was raised and taught in an area which is a known hotbed of terrorism, and since the Nation of Islam is mostly here in America, it seems obvious he was raised as a real Muslim. Not sure how much of that has affected him to this present day, however.

Neither: Of his religious affiliation, Obama has written:
I was drawn to the power of the African American religious tradition to spur social change. [...] In the history of these struggles, I was able to see faith as more than just a comfort to the weary or a hedge against death; rather, it was an active, palpable agent in the world. [...] It was because of these newfound understandings–that religious commitment did not require me to suspend critical thinking, disengage from the battle for economic and social justice, or otherwise retreat from the world that I knew and loved–that I was finally able to walk down the aisle of Trinity United Church of Christ one day and be baptized. It came about as a choice and not an epiphany; the questions I had did not magically disappear. But kneeling beneath that cross on the South Side of Chicago, I felt God's spirit beckoning me. I submitted myself to His will, and dedicated myself to discovering His truth.[125]

Obama 'says' he is a Christian, but ebionites, mormons, jehovah's witnesses, unitarians, and christian scientists, also 'claim' to be Christians yet deny the Deity of Christ. Some one said that Obama is a 'congregationalist', it should be noted that Charles Taze Russell the founder of the jehovah's witnesses was 'congregationalist' and that unitarian universalists follow a 'congregational' model of church governance. Both JW's and UU's deny the Deity of Christ. So my question is if Mr Obama is a Christian does he believe in Christ's Deity or is he closer to the 'christians' of Surah 5:82 of the Quran?

he is currently an apostate muslim, following the christian faith. In Islam there is no leaving Islam. and those who do, (apostates) are given death in Islamic Countries. Death is mandated by the Quran for such people. So it should be interesting what happens, should he become president, and should he make a diplomatic visit to Saudi Arabia, where it is the law for such people to receive Death for their sins against Allah. It should be very interesting indeed what turns out. or he may recieve a chance to spare his life in saudi and "rediscover" his heritage and bingo, we have a Muslim President in the United States, at a time when Muslims want to take over the United States.

Perhaps, you should write him and ask him. But seriously, it will take more than hollow rhetoric to tear down a Democratic candidate for president at the moment, which all conservatives seem to have. I notice Republicans haven't touted any of their candidates on Y!A. Is that because they have already lost?
