ok, so I'm at the gym the other day and there is this machine in the back and I don't see anybody around it, but there is still weights on it. That's typical. People always leave weights on the machine and don't put them back up. So, I start using the machine and this guy about 53 years old and 3 times my size comes up and says, "I wouldn't do that if I was you." I say," why?"
He says, " Because I'm using it." I said, " oh, well I didn't know." he says, " well, now you do." I wanted to break this guys face. I can't stand people like that. How would you react? I know some of you are going to say, " don't let him get under your skin." It's much easier said than done. what is the best thing to do?

Betting that old (?) guy needs a spotter someday, and if he's p*ssed everyone off, then he will just have to choke on that press bar, won't he?

Go do something else for a while. Then, politely ask your gym owners for a clarification of the rules of etiquette for that place. Let the owner / manager know, nicely, of the "mistake" you made, and that you just want to get along. Probably the manager / owner will take the hint.

My experience at my local Y is that people are more laid back in the weight room than in the cardio room. However, if you run into a 'roid rat, those steroids make them act like total jerks.

I work out all the time and most of the guys at the weight machines just stand around....this guy is a jerk....I am sorry he did that you. At least, you know what they say about weight lifters.......*smile*

I am guessing he was feeling threatened by the fact you are probally much younger and better looking than he is. I see it all the time at our gym.....the old guys feel threatened....it is kind of sad....

Complain to management?

Wait for him next time and superglue the handles?

Keep an eye open for him in the locker room and superglue his lock?

Find his car in the parking lot. Hmm, could it be superglue again? Who knows.

Just be stealthy enough that any video surveillance won't really be able to tell that you did anything - stealth, speed, disguise, practice.

Wait for a while before doing anything. If he's the kind of jerk he sounds like, he'll piss other people off. Eventually, he'll forget about you and won't associate you with any "accident" that happens.

He's a bully. It's hard to ignore him but it would give him great pleasure to know that he got under your skin. Keep that in mind. Just laugh next time. That will annoy the hell out of him.

Let it go and then the problem stops right there. If you react, the problem continues.

He is a bully.

In this circumstance, I would have just let it go. If you did anything further, it might create a scene.

be very careful, he may have steroid rage so whatever type of verbal gestures you use will be no use and may get you killed.
