Rapists? Sure, why not? The problem is that states/localities categorize things differently. In some places, a homeless guy (or girl) taking a leak behind some bushes will be cited for public indecency and categorized as a "sex offender". Some guy gets bagged for forcing sex on his wife and charged with rape. Do you really think he's going to come by and diddle your kids? Do you really want to sift through all the noise of such nonsense in order to find real risks? By all means, let's know about real risks, but not filtering the data makes it useless.
But why stop at sex offenses? Let's map all criminals of any sort. Someone down the street got caught smoking pot 15 years ago? Map him. Is there some corporate criminal next door convicted of perjury, you bet, I want to know. Gun offenses, concealed weapons, arsonists, gang members, I want it all. Bring it on. I'm just dying to know the sins of all my neighbors.

They already are. You need to do a little research. When the retirement home two blocks away accepted a sex offender (for a crimes committed from 1968 to 2001) the police were at my door the week before he moved in and we get regular mail updates about him.
You can even read about him, get his address, a map to the retirement home etc. at the link below. Just search on 22959 zip and click on Mr. Hudson.

YES, I think, believe, and feel that they should be identified to their respective neighbors. I mean how would you like living next door to a pedophile and NOT known this. And NOT knowing this guy believing that he was such a GREAT guy and as such you allowed him to watch your kids or allowed your kids outside while he was also outside in his own yard. I would think this is only trouble waiting to happen. So YES I think I as well as any neighbors in the remotely NEAR vicinity of this offender should be notified.

I feel badly for those caught up in the law, such as teens who are accused of statutory rape when they were only a few years apart and the sex was consensual. As for all others:

absolutely,we need to protect our children in any way we can.i truly feel they cannot be rehabilitated, they are dangerous and a menace to society.i believe they should do as much time in prison as a murderer.most do 5 yrs and are back out doing the same thing and worse.they should have to wear an open sign on their body and in their yards.

It's public record, if the neighbors wanted to know they could easily find out. I don't think that if one moves on your block they ought to send out a mass mailing. People need to find out who their neighbors are for themselves and act accordingly.

Well, if we executed them or kept them in jail where they belong, we wouldn't have to worry about it. But as long as Judges keep handing out probation, like candy at Halloween, then YES, the community deserves, and NEEDS to know where they are.
Urge your local Government to pass Jessica's law, and Megan's Law.
EDIT*** Look, a sexual predator or sympathizer is giving thumbs down!!! They are everywhere!
EDIT*** If you want to know who they are, click this link and help protect your kids.
