I know there is 2 types of ways of stating strike and dip.
The first is strike, dip then alphabetic dip-direction (087°,21° N) and then for example (060°,5°) which is dip-direction and dip.

I'm trying to figure out how to convert between the 2 different notations.
ex. how would i convert 089°43°E
and vice versa how would i convert 157°13°

Dip direction is 90 degrees to strike direction on a compass, and it is easiest to visualize if you draw the strike or dip on an imaginary compass.

In your first example, if strike direction is 89 degrees (almost due east-west trending), the dip direction to east is 89 plus 90, or 179 degrees(only one degree east of due south). No change in dip itself. If dip had been in other direction from strike, then it would have been 89 minus 90 degrees, or at 359 degrees on the compass (one degree west of true north).

In your second example, if dip direction is 157 degrees (to the southeast), then strike is 157 minus 90, or 67 degrees (northeast). No change in dip itself.
