It means that in addition to your bibliography, you must cite your sources using "in-text citation" rather than footnotes or endnotes.

Example:

It has been argued that since much technology has been designed by and for men, women have difficulty mastering computer peripheral systems, and are more reluctant to participate in online video gaming (Smith and Balka, 82).

In MLA style, in-text citations, called parenthetical citations, are used to document any external sources used within a document (unless the material cited is considered general knowledge). The parenthetical citations direct readers to the full bibliographic citations listed in the Works Cited, located at the end of the document. In most cases, the parenthetical citations include the author's last name and the specific page number for the information cited.

it means that you have to cite the quotations that you are putting in your essay. For ex: if you had a quotation that said "I am who I am" , then you would write your sentence as follow:

Mr Partick stated, "I am who I am." ( Authors name and the page #)
