You need to complete the Ixion hunt. It is one of Montblanc's Elite Hunts. After you accept the hunt, you must speak to The Whitecap Wench at The Whitecap in Balfonheim Port. Ixion is located in The Pharos. I have a little trick for this one. Enter the First ascent in Pharos, and take the lift to Subterra. When you get off of the lift, if you see any other enemies besides Ixion, immediately get back on the lift, and ride it back up. Repeat until there are no enemies except Ixion. This insures that Ixion will spawn there, because if it spawns in one of the other rooms in the Subterra, it will have more HP. (166559 HP, if it is in the other rooms, it's 306559 HP). Your reward for the hunt is 3000 gil, Sapping Bolts, and Ragnarok. Also, Ixion loves to cast Sleepga and Silence, so set up your gambits accordingly. Have fun, and good luck!

Since there is no class system in FFXII it really doesn't matter which weapon you put on each character. Some things to keep in mind when equipping weapons: One-handed swords let the character also equip a shield which improve defense and increase evasion. Two-handed swords are more powerful than one-handed swords and do more damage Accuracy of ranged weapons such bows, crossbows, and hand-bombs can be affected by the weather in a particular area Guns never miss; they may not be as powerful as other weapons, but depending on the enemies weaknesses and the ammo you use, they can inflict some major damage All ninja swords carry the Dark element. Choose wisely, you could give your enemy HP if it is an enemy that absorbs Dark Measures can be useful although they seem like such wimpy weapons--if a party member gets "confused" and you can't heal him right away, just switch out his weapon for a measure weapon and he won't wipe out your other party members Several rods, staves, and poles have elemental attributes. Use them against enemies that weak against the particular element to cause maximum damage--these are best used by a character with high Magic stats Katanas usually have the best chance of giving multiple hits Axes and hammers, although basically powerful, have a higher percentage of causing low damage If a weapon has the KO attribute, this means that is only a percentage chance that it will automatically kill the enemy Try to keep a variety of weapons on hand so that you can switch out often. When you find or purchase a new weapon, don't automatically sell off the old ones.
