I tried so-called AntiVirus discs, but they read there are no viruses,
Trend Micro-PC- cillin Internet Security reads 247 viruses in WR.

Well technically viruses do not infect your registry. Malicious code will place entries in various locations in your registry so that malicious programs can start when you boot into Windows. What you are seeing in the report are registry links created by malicious software, but the links are not actually viruses.

Most antivirus programs will not clean your regsitry, you need an spyware removal tool for that. Try Counter Spy.

Please try Cc cleaner It is a great free registry cleaner , plus other clean-up tasks. It is simple to use ..you can download it from www.download.com It works for me and millions of others. You can read the reviews on that site too .It is highly rated. I use it about once a month , along with my antivirus and Spybot, and adaware ..my PC runs fast and smoothly. ....

Norton, AVG, Avast are free antivirus software.
