there also use to be TG&Y, DAVID"S, GIANTS, BEN FRANKLIN"S 5&DIME (matter of fact thats how sam walton started), and for now that is all i can think of.

Unfortunately a lot of other stores are like them. They import cheap stuff from overseas because of Americans who like to buy the cheapest things they can get their hands on. I try hard to buy only made in the USA products, but it's getting tougher all the time. This may not be the answer you were looking for, but I felt it worthwhile to point it out.
