Glitter glue! Completely cover with glitter glue. You can get all kinds of colors of glitter glue at Walmart. Before you do that, though, cut out pretty pictures about the size of quarters and glue them to the back of a piece of poster board, like the back of a cereal box. After they are all glued down on the poster board, quickly paint them, coat them all, with Elmer's white glue. When they dry, they glow! Cut them out when they are dry and then, when you glitter-glue the whole shoebox, arrange the little picture cut-outs on the shoebox, squishing them into the glitter glue. Very pretty. You can also glue tiny colorful pebbles into the glitter glue, or beads or whatever. If you don't have beads, make your own. Just take construction paper of different colors, cut in tiny strips and, with your fingers gooey with Elmer's glue, wad up and roll the tiny strips of paper between your fingers into little colorful balls and set out to dry on a piece of tinfoil or plastic wrap. When they are dry, decorate your shoebox with them.

Use additional cardboard and construction paper to shape out the top portion of the mailbox for more realistic effects and use tin foil to create a metal-look. Decorate anyway from there-my kids love the valentine's stickers if thats what its for. Good Luck.
