go to the control panel and open "keyboard": check that the selected one is the one you want to (US ?)

Try opening your control panel from the start menu,click on
keyboard tab in the control panel the keyboard properties dialog box will open click on hardware tab then click on troubleshoot this will open the keyboard help & support centre you can use the search box option or follow the instructions in the box.

It's probably easiest to buy a new keyboard.
They are very cheap. There are ways of recalibrating the keyboard from the computer but this is hard and depends on your operating system.
Also, to get the @ symbol on a QWERTY keyboard (it's qwerty if the top left 6 letters spell qwerty) you should press Ctrl + '.

Hurray, this works....it did for me. After spending over an hour, attempting uninstalling and reinstalling cycle on IE, Shockwave, Flash plug-in, attempting diverse settings on the browser secure practices tab, turning off Norton internet secure practices, Anti Virus, Firewall and so on, here seems to artwork. Reversing the step, recreated the situation besides greater advantageous than as quickly as. In Norton internet secure practices> advert blocking off> Configure I unchecked "change on advert blocking off" be conscious- i'm waiting to circulate away "change on popup window blocking off" checked.

regional and language (globe icon)
change top address bar to English UK
bottom to English
click 3 rd tab (advanced)
change address bar to English
tick bottom box (apply all setting to the currant user account and to the default user profile)
this will put them right

you have windows xp then just trouble shoot it sounds like you have your keyboard running in a different nationality like say the u.s.a. or another country instead of the u.k it once happened to me

goto to start, control panel, regional & language options, click on langauges tab, click details, highlight US keyboard, delete, ok, reboot pc and you should then get the @ when you key it
