I used to write proposals and we had to use the term. I'm doing a proposal for my own company now and thought of using this but I don't actually know what it means and whether it would be appropriate. Can anyone help please?

Hi there, If I remember rightly it means that if Ur Firm or another Firm are making or receiving a Quote i.e. selling/buying /producing an item for example 20,200 telephones . The information on the production/costs, the know how info etc is always Typed and stamped at top, bottom, front and back of each page "COMERCIAL-in-CONFIDENCE: This means that if the information on this letter is leaked to the public/other firms in the same business as yours could cause serious damage to your firm. i.e. they could loos a very important bid for a production job. I hope this answers your question satisfactorily. Best wishes from Germany Jaywalker

I just saw that commercial too and had no idea what aeae meant. after I looked for a while i couldn't find it anywhere on the web but finally stumbled across it. I guess it means Best Friends Forever And Ever And Ever.

It means that it would be very damaging, embarrassing or unhelpful if a competitor was able to read that letter.

In confidence means, between you and me.
Commercial tells you the scenario.
