There are two types of nuclear weapons: fission bombs and thermonuclear (fusion) bombs. Fission bombs generate energy by the process of unstable atoms breaking into different elements of lower atomic weight. The binding energy of the fission products is less than that of the large nucleus, and that energy is released in the explosion. The reaction is triggered by slow neutrons released by the unstable large nucleus, and the reaction releases more neutrons forming a chain reaction. If there is enough material (>critical mass), the reaction is uncontrolled and results in an explosion.

Thermonuclear weapons fuse light atoms (hydrogen isotopes) into larger atoms, again releasing the binding energy difference. This requires intense heat and pressure to start the reaction, which is provided by a fission device as trigger.

Basically what happens is uranium atoms are inside the bomb, sub-atomic particles are released and nuclear fission occurs. Now, everybody knows what happens when you split an atom. They blow up. It then starts a chain reaction and finally so much force is released that it destroys everything in sight. Check these sights out. They will help.

It is very scary for YOU to be asking this kind of question.(Even though I know you are not really Mel Gibson this is my reaction to him anyway.)
You should be ashamed for what you said about the Jewish People! What have they EVER done to you? Every war with Israel has been because satan and his ppl (know any?) are jealous of GOD'S Chosen People! It is NOT the Catholics either!
