I think a lot of has to do with the social conditioning that women in general are exposed to. Popular culture (and culture in general) more often than not portrays men as predatorial and aggressive and as a result, women in general feel that they should constantly be on guard.

Because a LOT of men out there have ulterior motives and try to get women into bed by being friendly to them. This has happened to me countless times.

Because most women think men just want to get in their pants. Women are just like men. They talk, think, and do the same things.

Because even the 'nice' and 'friendly' guys later turn out to hit on us...

It gets annoying, old and very creepy
