The song is about suicide and wondering if because you just killed yourself will you be saved or rejected by the lord. The touniquet she's singing about could be her salvation, as tourniquets were used to stop bleeding.

I'm certain they do not play it continuously in the course of the day. It's no longer a mainstream hit anymore. Just excuse your self & head for the 'powder room.' If anyone is gambling the Evanescence CD, perhaps it will have to get 'mysteriously' scratched. Or endorse any other tune.
