I know you said it's not cradle cap, but that sounds exactly like it. And the recomended "cure" is the typical things given for cradle cap as well. On eof my children it looked no different than dandruff but the other looks just like scales but he also has all-over eczema that has last ed well beyond the cradle cap. If thats not what it ism I hope you are able to find some more suggestions. But just wanted to say Ive seen cradle cap in many children and it doesnt always look the same.

My first child had very bad dry, scaly, skin on his head and it didn't seem to improve until after he was a year old. I was advised to use baby oil on his head, using cotton wool. The Dr.told me he had 'cradle cap' but also had very very dry skin. I was given some oilatum oil to put in his bath/washing water, and I could also wash his hair with it too. Ask your Health Visitor or Dr. at your baby clinic if you are worried about your daughter. I know you can buy a big tub (500g) of emulsifying cream at the chemist which you can rub on the body like you do body lotion, but you need to check and see if you can use this on your daughter. I've a feeling you may be able to use it on the body, but not sure about the head. I hope this helps.

yes my daughter had it. It was darker then her skin in little scaly bumps .i would scratch at it and nothing happened. Everyone told me it was cradle cap and to use a comb and baby oil. Nothing happened tell she was a year old and had a little more hair and one day it started fluffing off, so i got the comb out w/ baby oil and it just kept coming off. I guess since she had very little hair when she was younger it stuck to her scalp more.Try combing toward the back of the head , going oppisite of the direction the hair grows.

Nothing to worry about. My 3 month son would cry when I took him a bath and dry his hair. Put some baby oil on his scalp, let it sit there for awhile or even over night, it will get better, don't give him a bath everynight and put the baby shampoo in, it will go away in a couple of days, you will see the flakes when they loosen up.. good luck

Are you sure it's not cradle cap? Both my kids had cradle cap, and that's just what it sounds like. I did pick it off some times. Which helped some.

My son has this. His doctor gave this advice and it's helped tremendously!
1.Lather her head in baby oil before bath time.
2.Wash her hair with shampoo as you normally would.
3.After drying off, rub hydrocortizone cream (like Cortaid) all over her head. It won't look pretty, but it will help. Put a hat on her if you would like while it's drying.
Hope this helps!

My son had it for over a year & a half.
Nothing to worry about. The baby oil works good, I put it on thick at night before bed & washed it off in the morning bath.

My daughter had it too. It does just clear up on its own. If the friend is breastfeeding, make sure she takes some source of Omega 3 fatty acids, like fish oil or flax oil, and a good B vitamin supplement.

Could be sebhorric dermatitis. But probably just dry skin/dandruff. Try small amount of Head and shoulders see if that helps. just make sure not to get near the eyes!

My son had something similar to that. I used a medicated dandruff shampoo on his head maybe two times and it cleared up. As for her eczema, my dermatologist told me to limit the amount of baths I give my son. He also told me to use Cetaphil cream soap on him. He also recommended to use the Cetaphil lotion that comes in the tub.
