Drug abuse is bringing America down as we speak. Both legal and illegal drugs are a downfall to this country. Especially the illegal kind since they warp the mind so badly that fathers leave their family destitute.
The legal kind are too expensive for the elderly and too easily acquired for the wealthy to abuse.

I think that drug abuse is not the primary problem, but a result of deeper problems in our society. First being the lack of family values and the rampant immorality which is part of the American culture. Also the state of many American schools is inadequate to equip more children to be successful adults. I also think that the capitalism that forces many families to live in poverty, contributes to the street level drug trade. Obviously the war on drugs has had little to no effect on the problem of drug use in this country. I think it is time to look deeper into the source of this problem and stop wasting so much time and resources on the criminalization of drug use. I truly believe that if Americans were raising happy, loved and well adjusted children, the demand for illegal drugs would decline.

My opinion which no person will pay interest to: we are able to be ok. Worse has got here approximately already. i.e. A Civil conflict, a gaggle of undesirable and actually undesirable Presidents, international conflict II, the Civil Rights strikes, undesirable Constitutional Amendments (Prohibition), a chilly conflict, Joe McCarthy, and the large melancholy. we've the two survived them, repealed them, or got here out extra advantageous for them. If we stick to what that shape says, do no longer enable the politicos muck with it, and stay versatile we are able to survive a protracted time.

if the world didnt end when drugs were really out there in the 70's and 80's and shi* , when there were huge dealers killing people all over miami and everywhere else i don't think the downfall of america will be due to or caused by drugs... we need to worry about the terrorrists

I certainly think that it is contributing. Perhaps it is a symptom. I'm not sure. We should work to prevent it, in all respects. People will give up all kinds of things, including their chastity and dignity, for drugs. When you're that willing to follow something destructive, what's left?

Alcoholism is greater than drugs, yet it is legal. Most teenagers I have spoken with tell me they wouldn't do pot or other drugs if they could have an occasional beer or so like adults when they get stressed, but it is harder to obtain.Dope is easier to get apparently.I do think it is out of hand and will probably get worse before it gets better.
