definitely depends on the model of the laptop and the type of battery it is using - Lithium, NiCad ? my Averatec laptop's ac adapter port actually heats to the point of un-soldering it's parts if I leave the AC adapter plugged in too long. Toshiba's don't have that problem, but have had battery issues. Dell's have been pretty good with their batteries and the adapter port for the last 3 model years, with only a few problems.

what model are you using, and what type of battery?

I use my notebook 5-8 hours a day for work and constantly charge the battery with no problems.

You have to understand that not every computer works perfectly. Just because you have a problem child does not mean you need to change your habits. The battery and the AC connector probably burned out because they were defective. If happens. It also depends on the design. People look for the cheaper laptop and they find out later how cheap it really is.

Just continue doing what you are doing.

when I am using my laptop I just keep it plugged in and it stays charged. I unplug it sometimes if I go to another room or something.
