But human experience is usually paradoxical, that means incongruous with the phrases of current talk or even current philosophy. — George Eliot (1819-1880), English novelist.

Ruture is not a word, to my (and to the internet's) knowledge. Did you mean rupture?
For example, a snowboarder can rupture the distal biceps tendon if he or she uses the arm to try to break a fall during a turn.

Trying to scratch beyond the superficial level to have a glimpse of the abyss below.

The cloister surrounded the courtyard and the fountain.

Here, you mean contemn(ed):
Paul tries hard not to contemn others.

“streets which were usually so thronged now grown desolate” (Daniel Defoe).

Criminal prohibitions against loitering include proscription of such behavior as remaining or wandering around a public place for purposes of begging, gambling, soliciting another to engage in sexual intercourse, or for the purpose of selling or using drugs; being masked or disguised in an unusual manner; or simply not being able to give a satisfactory explanation of one's behavior.

Why do you need all these words? I'm truly confounded.

Hope this helps!
