Over the last decade or so I think that politics and the media have become far to involved on this topic... It's a personal choice and I don't think I, or anyone else should have any say in what a woman chooses to do with an unwanted child, escpeially with all the advances in stem cell research. Often, if a woman is forced not to terminate a baby even though she wants abort it, the child will be underpriveliged, or the mother's life will change drastically in an unfair, negative way.

Does anyone else think that Bush and any other religious protesters should just suck it up?

Especially now that Geroge W has gone and murdered hundreds in the 'War on Terror'...What a hypocrite!!

so, let me get this straight --

It's okay to kill a baby. And, it's okay for Saddam to kill 1.2 million people, and cause a war that lasted 20 years (or more).

But it's "wrong" for Bush to take military action to end the reign that killed 1.2 million people because he "murdered hundreds"?

And, it's wrong for "religious protesters" to fight for the life of a babe?

Jeez... there was a time when liberals were on the side of morality. There was a time when they fought for the powerless. There was a time when they were the educated ones. And, they even had cool music too. This batch of liberals is soooo disappointing....

I have worked in the foster care system for years. I feel that if more people were allowed to have abortions and not be riticuled for it there would be much fewer children in foster care for abuse, etc.
If you do not "want" the child you also do not take care of yourself properly. You may continue to smoke, drink, do drugs. I ahve seen all too many times what Fetal Alcohol Syndrome does to a child and the life lasting effects that it brings on a child.
I am pro abortion. I have friends that had abortions. Although I got pregnant very young and chose to keep my babies that was a choice. Some young girls are not mature enough to look after themselves, much less a baby. Allowing these people to have abortions is the logical thing to do for the honest welfare of the child. We do not let animals suffer needlessly but we do allow children to.

I completly agree with you Questioner. I would never ever choose for my siginificant other to have an abvortion, but that's a choice that she and I would make together (if you can't discuss something this important with the person you're slepping with, why are you sleeping with them?). Of course it's her body, so the final choice is hers. If I didn't want a baby, I'd recommened adoption so that someone that can't have one can adopt a healthy newborn. I don't understand why people feel like they should be able to make that choice for others.

In any case, I'm Pro-choice and against abortion, but I would never ever try to mandate my believes on someone else.

And as far as religious leaders protesting it, if they want to make law then they should be taxed the same as the rest of us. Maybe then they'll shut up and focus on more important issues. As a christian I think faith and government should be sepaarted. That's why the founding fathers came here, that's how it should stay.

I have to agree with John R... Up to 3 months... but I also believe that if the Mother's life is in danger, then it should be allowed up to the end of the fetus's term... I also think that designer abortions should be outlawed (abortion due to the child's gender... they wanted a boy and not a girl)... There ought to be a good reason for this procedure to be performed... not just because now is not the right time !

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Abortion is, under no circumstances, a great or wonderful thing to ponder at all. However, I agree that a woman's body is hers and so is her decision. I don't think that any religion-fueled political meiser should ever have a say over it. Especially considering the only reason any of them are against it is to gain popularity with the Bible Belt (where all the religious, easily led sheep are). What we all need to be aware of is the fact that politicians do not have beliefs...they have fronts and sayings that they use to lead people one way or another and get them to follow. Most people are not smart enough to realize this, which is why it works so well..

But it apparently hasn't worked on you...you're a free thinker. Congrats to you on that.

Abortion should be illegal. You are killing. Plain and simple. It is not a matter of a woman's choice. Men and women have a choice to have sex and to use birth control. If you have sex, and a child results, then that child is meant to come into the world. It is that simple. If you do not want the child, then give it up for adoption when that child is born. It IS that simple. You have a choice before the child is conceived, once a child is conceived, there is no more choice except where/how to have the child born and what OB/Gyn doctor, Doula, mid-wife you choose to use.

Unless the baby will die shortly after birth , severe birth defects or the mother's life is in danger from being pregnant than no .It should not be legal. If Sally and Harry played together one night and got pregnant they have to take responsibility and give it up for adoption if they don't want it. Many people want babies and cannot get pregnant . What about the baby's right. It wasn't their choice to be made one night.

Pro-Choice, 1st Trimester only and for the following reasons only... Rape, Incest, Mothers Health in Danger. Any other reasons are just birth control for the lazy. 2nd and 3rd Tri-mester abortions only in the case of a mothers life at stake.

Your unrelated political tripe about the war aside, I completely agree that abortion is a personal choice. I'll only take the anti abortion crowd seriously when I see them taking in several unwanted babies and raising them as thie own. Until then, they are just making irrelevent noise.
