It's actually a little bit like segregation. Sort of. You know what I mean. Put the white kids here, the black kids there, whatever. If they're talking to each other and disrupting class, they should be separated, though. Definitely.

You're being a little sensitive, but then again yes, it was totally out of line. Hopefully, you said something when the teacher mentioned it to you, especially if your daughter's getting in trouble for talking to that girl the teacher so 'wisely' sat her by. If you want to make an issue about it, you could report the teacher to the principle.

Peach my dear, You are raising a LEADER and not a FOLLOWER. and you do not need to lasting to any else you are doing a very dynamic job with that young LEADER. Just continued
doing what you are doing, and have the teacher moue sour daughter from beside the other young lady and you need to pull up your daughter a little more, she could be saving a little lose
time so get on her a little more. She is Biracial so she should be
more in controlled of her mouth more, so pull her rain up a little bit more tighter. and may be when she been moved from that Set
she may change but pull her up some more please, please, please. You are raising a leader and keep it same way don't change. GOOD LUCK WITH HER.>>>>>>>>>>>>.

I totally understand u. My kids are biracial. People think they are bein nice when they do things like that but its actually kind of rude. Its like putting the chinese kids by each other, the black by each other, and whatever races by each other just to feel comfortable? Thats lightweight ignorant. Lol this world isnt made to make anyone comfortable! If anything they need to mix with kids of other races so they wont see color and they can love people of all races.

Yes, the teacher does sound out of line. Way out of line! Unfortunately, with most schools under the "zero tolerance" rule, your next step may be limited based on recourse that your daughter can be subjected to in class or future.
Biracial makes a minority? I can't stand ignorant people.

I think the teacher might just not have thought too hard about what she was doing. It shouldn't matter what race your daughter is where she goes in the classroom. It is kind of naive, but i wouldnt fret too much about it. I agree that it was a dumb-*** comment though.

I think that it is good that the teacher is trying to make her feel comfortable. Just because your daughter is comfortable with who she is - doesn't make it easier to fit in when you're different. It is nice to see other people that look like you. Society shouldn't see a difference in people's skin. But the reality is something else. Kids are very keen to point out others differences and it's easy for our kids to suddenly feel isolated in a room full of people. Ever notice that when we were in school that during lunch blacks sat with other blacks, white people sat together and the latinos sat together? Not because we were racists (and there was usually one white person at the black table, one black person at the white table and one of each sitting with the latinos) but because that is where we felt most comfortable. Who wants to be the only minority in the rooms with everyone looking at you? Um, not me.

I agree. The teacher had no businees saying something that dumb. And your daughter doesn't need to sit by anyone who she might get in trouble with.

This was a very insensitive thing for the teacher to do and say. She needs to be reminded that race has nothing to do with this situation. I don't think you are being to sensitive.

I agree w/ you...that teacher was way out of line. I hate when ppl sterotype others. I am very happy that your daughter is secure in who she is,that means she was raised with love and good values! Be proud of her and yourself. You sound like a wonderful mom!
