Means you have a short somewhere.. could be the switch.. could be a gazillion other places (like simply a wire that has rubed thru on the frame somewhere) Electrical probs are prob the most difficult thing there is to diagnose & find.
Best I can tell you is get a wireing schemetic, a meter, and a continuity tester and start tracing down and eliminating stuff

It could mean your front axle actuator is toast. Try this to check it out. Crawl under the front axle on the passenger side(have parking brake engaged/rear wheels chocked so the vehicle don't roll). You should be able to find the actuator on the front side of the axle(should be metal, newer style is plastic). There are probably 2 wires coming out of it and to the back side of the axle where the connector should be, unplug the connector, replace fuse, turn key on and engage 4x4. If the fuse doesn't blow again, you can replace the actuator.
The wiring from the 4x4 fuse on most trucks usually goes to a switch on top of the drivers side of the transfer case and then goes to the front axle actuator. If the truck is equipped with 2 batteries it also powers the relay for the second battery in most cases

Could be just a fluke, replace the fuse...if it blows again you make have a problem with the switch or something in the transfer case module/encoder motor!

you have "short" somewhere in that wiring system. maybe hard to find. (a live wire touching the negative side of the system)
