Souurav Ganguli's removal from the Indian Cricket team seems to have benifitted the Television Media immensely.
They produced thousands of hours of programming, related to his dismissal, right from accusing Greg Chappel, interviewing all Souravs friends, family, neighbours, etc. Started hundreds of SMS campaigns, phone-in's and e-mail campaigns on hundreds of questions each day related to his removal, launched a campaign against Dalmia, Interviewed all the politicians from Jyoti Basu, Buddhadeb Batacharya, Sharad Pawar, etc.
The event was almost made like the greatest national issue of the decade.
This generated so much of revenue that they were bitterly disappointed that he was re-instated into the team.
