A baby can get either mom or dad's blood type. There are also a few instances where a Type A and a Type B can produce a baby with blood Type AB.
Certain types such as Type B HAS to be handed down from at least one of the parents but others can be from a combination of both mom and dad.
Hope this helps!
PS...my older son has his dad's blood type and my younger one has mine.

It's a simple matter of genetics. Each child gets one gene for blood type from each parent. The way those genes interact determines the child's blood type which may match the mother's the father's or may be different from either one.
For instance:
Mom: Type A, Dad: Type B
Possible children: Type A, Type B, Type AB, Type O
Mom: Type O, Dad: Type A
Possible children: Type A, Type O
Mom: Type O, Dad: Type O
Possible children: Type O
Mom: Type B, Dad: Type B
Possible children: Type B, Type O

The baby will have either mom's or dads blood type. The RH factor
(+/-) will be mom's or dad's or a recessive gene from either parent.
For instance:
mom: A + Dad 0 -
baby can be A + A- 0+ 0- or if both parents are RH+
mom:O+ dad O+ baby can even O- if one parent has the neg gene
I'm O+ my husband O+ three of my kids are O+ and one O-
I caught hell for that and had to get a genetic counselor to explain that possibility to my husband. My grandfather was O-.

no... u will have usually have 1 or the other. it could even be different in the rh factor. thats why some moms have to take drugs to keep the baby from rejecting moms blood.

The people who told you that are idiots. It is definitely not true. Ask your biology teacher or family doctor to explain it to you. And I hope you never take any medical advice from the uneducated morons who told you that!

no the baby does not always receive the fathers. u can get it from either of them. so relax, this doesn't mean that your father is not really your father.
