I have brake fluid leaking were the brake fluid reservoir connect to the master cylinder. Their is some break fluid in the reservoir but I have no pressure when pushing on the brakes and the car does not want to stop either.
So is their a gasket that needs to be replace or am I screwed with a bigger problem.

You may need to replace the Master cylinder. Could be leaking.
No pressure is a good indication of this.

that could ensue whilst an air bubble interior the brake lines lines up completely once you step on the brake. Or if the brake fluid is low. i could verify the fluid point and bleed the brakes first. Thats a $10 restore. You dont say how old the motor vehicle is or how many miles on the motor vehicle. The cylinder on a particular wheel could purely end that distinctive wheel. whether it have been leaking, the different 3 wheels could desire to have stress to end the motor vehicle. The pedal going all the thank you to the floor shows loss of stress interior the finished device. Get a 2d opinion. If it ever happens to you returned, pump the brakes right this moment to stress fluid rotation. Pull over and verify your brake fluid.

You might have a seal leaking between the reservoir and the master cylinder (or a crack in the res) you are going to have to fix that first, at best by replacing the seal (an O-Ring thingy) or possibly replacing the res and or the master cylinder.
You will then need to bleed the entire break system (you have air in it and thats why it wont stop.. air compresses, brakefluid does not compress.. with air in the line it cant transfer the power from your foot to the breaks themselves as the air is just compressing in the lines and system

You definitely need a rebuilt master cylinder - not a biggie for your car and more than likely - power booster because the internal membrane gets damaged from extended brake fluid presence. All together, you should be able to stay within $200 for parts - NOT at a dealership!

buy a new mastercylinder with a reservoir attached. remanufactured master cylinder should work just fine. i prefer new but if money is an issue, get a reman. fill it and bench bleed it, get all the air out of the master cylinder before installing on the car. install it and then bleed the system right rear, left rear, right front, left front. you may be able to find just a reservoir but with the age of the vehicle, just replace the whole unit.

If the res, is plastic most likely The "o" rings at the base are shot. replacements are available, How ever you say that the petal goes down, even though there is fluid in the res, Chances are that you do need A new master cylinder. OR !there is a LOT! of air in the lines . brake system diagnosis is very difficult.!!!! I would vary much like to helpl you further---ok.rich@yahoo.com

Yes there is a gasket. You may have air in the lines from previous loss of fluid. If thats the case bleed the brakes when you put new gasket on. YOU MAY NEED A NEW MASTER CYLINDER.

see if all the connections are tight where it connects to the cylinder and where your brake lines are connected. if they are then you more then likely need a new master cylinder. if the connections were lose and you tightened them, then you will still have to bleed the brake lines to get the air out so your brakes work proper.

you either have a master cylinder problem, a break line problem, or you might need a whole breaking system, which seems likely because of how old the car is

replace the Master Cylinder with a new one,.... (not a rebuild)
Bleed the system when done. also check the brakes to make sure they are ok.
