It isnt usually bad, it is just a smell like nothing you can describe. Sometimes, when I get in my car, I smell my grandmother’s house. Usually you dont know what “your” smell smells like. Where does it come from?

People each have their own scents and that is combined with cleaners or soaps that they use within the house. I know what you mean about a Grandmother smell .. sometimes its just the perfume they wear too.

I know what you mean. I can smell a person's house before I walk in. I have a very keen sense of smell. Sometimes it's a blessing and other times it's a curse. But, I can't really smell my own house. Most everyone tells me my house smells so good. It should though, b/c I don't like any bad odors. I have an Airwick Freshmatic in every room, Plug-ins in every single outlet, and scented candles. I also clean with cleaners that have a fresh smell and I simmer a pot of water with my Gain laundry detergent to make my house smell good. I guess I'm a bit obsessive about how my house smells but I don't like anything to smell bad. And I wouldn't want company to come to my house and it not smell fresh, scent is always linked to memory and I don't want my company to remember my house as a home with smelly musky odors.

It's just a personal smell every one has to them. For example old people have a really funky smell to their house and what not.

You are used to the smell of your own home and are not used to the smell, but after a few min. you won't even smell it. you are adapted to the smell.

Sometimes it comes from what you cook, and wat candles..air freshners and everything u use

even tho the smells wear off they are somewhat lurking in the air

and it smells different everywhere even because one family may make salsa and one family may make soup

It comes from your body or else it comes from what goes on in your house like cooking odors, cleaning chemicals, shampoos, hand creams and other people.
