No. You're thinking of perimeter. a footprint of a house is the Area of its foundation, not the perimeter. So, the sides could be 7m, 7m, 6m, and 6m (because 7m x 6m is 42m^2); or all the sides could be 6.5m (6.5 squared is about 42).
No, the footprint of the house does not include the garden (unless the garden is inside the house). The footprint of a house is found by finding the area of its foundation (if it's rectangular, then it is found by multiplying to adjacent sides).
If a house had sides of length 10.5m, it would have a 110m^2 footprint.

Footprint of house does not include garden. It is the area on the ground that would be exposed if you could "lift" the house off the ground.
If a house had four sides of 10.5 m each, its circumferance would be 42 m (NOT m^2). If the sides formed a square (and not simply a parallelogram) the enclosed area would be (10.5)^2 m^2 = 110.25 m^2.
Even if the sides were triangular and 10.5 m long the area enclosed would be about 47.7 m^2, not 42 m^2. And if there were a single curved side, circular or elliptical, 10.5 m long, the maximum area enclosed would only be about 8.77 m^2.
Between those two limits you could construct a house footprint with an area of 42 m^2 consisting of two straight sides 10.5 m long and a concave curved side also 10.5 m long. It would be an interesting exercise to calculate the angle between to two straight sides.

No to both. The house need not be square, and the garden is not included in the footprint of the house.

no could be 7m by 6m for example. You need a given definition of "footprint" however i guess it is either a very small house or garden if the garden was included in the 42M2 value. So i think the garden is excluded!

I don't have a calcualator handy but the square root of 42 is one possibility assuming the house is square shaped. If not any two values that multiply together to make 42 are possibilites. e.g 7 and 6. The house 'could' be 7 metres long and 6 metres wide but you don't know for sure.

42 m^2 is very small for the foot print of a house.
If the footprint is square, the side is 6 point something
