If you're in it for the money the pay will be dissapointing. The pay definitely wont compensate for all the stress you will have to go through.

English teachers in california start at between $36,000-47,000 depending on which area you live in. I think thats the average across the nation.

Anyway, good luck. Shadow a teacher and do lots of research to figure out if its right for you.

English teachers in the US? They make the same as any other school teacher, but that amount varies widely. Even just in my area, starting salaries vary from around $36,000 to around $45,000 or more. If you have previous teaching experience, have your master's degree, or have worked for several years in a related field (such as journalism) your starting salary will be higher than the basic starting salary. Different areas of the country will be higher or lower depending on the general cost of living.

Depends on the area and your level of education, experience, etc. In Los Angeles teachers start around $42,000. I'm in my second year teaching and I'm making $50,000. Look up school districts in your area and they will have salary scales that will tell you how much you'll make. Good luck!! It's a fun and rewarding job.
