The problem is that:
1) The average mail route is 11 miles long and exposed to weather
2) Letter Carriers are required to be able to carry 35 lbs. of mail constantly for all 8 hours, which creates a balance issue
3) Letter Carriers may also have to deliver parcels up to 75 lbs. which would further complicate balance
4) And finally because of the amount of mail that must be taken out for a given route a unicycle would be impractical for volume reasons.

they are a lot harder to balance and if they have to carry mail bags they'll set their weight off. bicycles are safer and easier to turn. it is very difficult to make a unicycle go uphill and there is no way to stop and stay on. it would be a nightmare in traffic and just overall impractical.

If you've ever tried to ride a unicycle, you would know why.
It's very difficult and there are too many obstacles.

because then they'd have to get clown clothes, and wear makeup everyday. Those big clown shoes really don't work on those tiny pedals, also. so they would just look stupid.
