the thing with the liquid that takes out the chlorine is that you have to wait a couple of minutes before you put you betta back into its tank or bowl. my male betta, cheese always lays on it side and like he doesn't do anything most of the time but to make sure that he's ok,tap his tank or look at him closely to see if he is still breathing that's what i do and my betta hasn't died yet. but yeah wait a couple of minutes for the liquid to settle before you put him back into the water and he'll be fine. good luck.

is it in a tank or a bowl? did you change all of the water or JUST PART of it? is the temp between 70-80? Does the fish have some cover (plants, rocks etc) in the tank to serve as a comfort zone? has it been overfed? was any aquarium salt added to the water (just a pinch if it's a bowl) before filling the bowl/tank? These are things you should consider. I think your fish is in stress-turn off the light or get it into a dark, quiet environment . Bettas sometimes do just lay around. good luck.

you kept it in an unheated tank, most likely a bowl.

that's like keeping you ina closet at 45F (65F is the average room temp water, which is around 15-20F colder than they need) with no place to go to the bathroom but the floor. even if someone cleans your tank 3times a a week like they'er suppsoed to you're not going to be very happy or healthy, are you? of course not. you'll get sick easily and die young. bettas live up to 10yrs in the wild, and can live just as long in proper care.

it is common belief that bettas live in "pudles" or even moist footprints. they live in rice paddies, and while they are not very deep they are VERY large. callingt hem puddles is quite a strech. it is cruel to keep them in a bowl, and evn crueler to keep them in a vase, which is tall, but extremely narrow. betta should be kept in something large enough for a filter and heater.

bettas are tropical fish, you wouldn't keep your tropical community tank without a heater so why should bettas have to suffer this abuse? bettas also produce waste, just like very other fish, so they need filters jsut like every other fish.

if you don't a 5 gallon tank (usually the smallest you can get a heater for) for just a betta you can also add a mystery snail or a fan shrimp or even 1 or 2 small corydoras.

or you could get a 10 gallon tank and get a small school of mollies, tretras, or platies with a male. or a small school of corydoras and a male betta. plus mystery snail if desired. or you could even have 5 female bettas (it is untrue that they are dull, many are just as colorful as the males, they're tales are just shorter) and a mystery snail. just do not put males in with any other bettas, even females.

get a proper home for your next betta.

put like a net in there and start circling around the fish if its dead it wont do anything if its not it going to run. If its changing its color to like brownish its dead if its just at the bottom doing nothing its dead. Sorry....
