This thing is HUGE, I Call him "Ned the New York Rat" cause he it is soooo BIG!
I set a LARGE rat trap, and can't put out poison because I have 4 house pets.
HOW can I catch it?
It keeps eating the bait & tripping the trap & escaping scott free!!!

first you need to remove all other food it may eat-your pets food- rodents love peanut butter- and generally stay near the wall when they scurry around your home at night- they have baited traps that stick to them or snap traps- and Have a heart traps that catch them alive and you move them elsewhere- just keep your pets out of the room it most frequents and put several traps there. you do realize that rodents are Family oriented? this means they live in groups! you see one- there are at least 5 more somewhere else in your home- they carry diseases that can be transferred to you and your pets- so..... do something quickly- they multiply fast!!!!

Here's one that always works for me. (I should get a job as a big game hunter for ferral cold catching.) I have the happy knack of being able to walk into just about ANY sandwich shop in town, and find a total germbag who should be in intensive quarantine, but who is in fact, serving food. I can do this trick BLINDFOLDED. The very first short-order sandwich chef extrordinaire that walks up expecting to make me a cheese and snot sandwich always seems to have a raging fever, a snotty nose with a drip and bloodshot eyes. I usually take one look and change my order to a stale old grease ridden pie which is safely enclosed in a sealed plastic bag (since sometime last century usually) or a similarly entombed sausage roll, just so she can't kill me with Ebola or whatever. Sound safe? Nope. She just sneezed on my change. Rrrratz.!!! .

Buy a Have A Heart Trap at a hardware store and bait it with peanut butter and sunflower seeds. It will be alive so either drown it trap and all in the tub or take it somewhere and release it.

havent you ever heard of a glue trap. it's a piece of card board with some super sticky stuff. just put it where your pets cant get to it. ( if they do it wont hurt them there is no poison in it) after you catch the rat drown it then trash it. if the pets get in the trap it will only stick to them . use something greasy like pam or what ever it will melt the glue to be removed. you can get them at about any pest control store. be sure it's for the norway rats

i used to have the same problem with our jurasic rat until i let one of our outdoor cats in. they had a good run around the house but my cat came out the winner in the end. indoor cats are too tame i think to do what the carnivorous outdoor cats can.
