I need to think of a good story line. It's for my English AP 12 class. I can't think of a good plot or anything. Please help me! Give me some ideas. Best answer gets 10 points!

What do you know about? Have you had a good vacation in the past? How did your parents meet? Have you been on a road trip and had to use a gas station bathroom? Found something that you spent hours searching for and it showed up in the least likely place?

A short story is basically ONE character with ONE problem and hardly any subplots, and is generally considered to be anything under 7500 words (page count is irrelevant). As for where the ideas come from... all over. My last one came from a thought I had about what would happen if a werewolf was framed for murder during the full moon. The one before that came from a desire to write a casefic story (he works for a private investigator) wherein a character I previously created did not die, get kidnapped, or get beaten to within an inch of his life. That one got slightly away from me and ended up 10,000 words long. The one before that grew out of a first line that somehow screamed "ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE OMG" at me. I just bring all those things down to one character and make it VERY personal for them. Funny how the grass is always greener. I envy people who can write novels (I've managed ONE that was actually good, while two others have fallen apart), and novelists envy my ability to write "short." It is kind of a different skill set, though, and there's nothing wrong with not being able to write one or the other.

Hmm... how about something dealing with a ice age. You know that the scientists are predicting another one in the future because of the global warming. You could write a story about a child growing up while one is going on. Write about her experiances and how she copes with day to day life (all that snow, possible new laws on how to live, etc...). Maybe include how she feels about her parents and ancestors who caused all the planets global warming problems. Could be interesting.
If you need some info about the possible future ice age just do a yahoo lookup with "global warming causing an ice age" as the subjece. Good luck! =)
