I would get some of the best estimates from scientists as to the rise in sea level and then invest in property that will be oceanfront in a few years. Lots of money to be made there.

That's why a lot of people are fighting against the global warming theory. The fewer people who believe, the easier and cheaper it will be for the opportunists to invest in the real estate.

Those who's surveys find the right location for new port cities will probably make the most money. If they can find a way to accelerate the global warming, they won't have to wait as long to get the return on their investment.

Those who read this should act now before the big land rush begins. Thank Al Gore for spreading the word.

I'm going to move to higher ground.

If the glaciers melted away we would be left with fresh water that is less than 1% of the world's water. If the glaciers melted then we would be left with a lot less land, more water, violent storms, erratic weather, and a bunch of unforseen events.

The glaciers are not only our largest source of fresh water, but they are the cooling points that keep the ocean currents running. The ocean currents work off of a cooling and warming system. Our weather patterns are dependant on this system. The cooling and heating of water allows evaporation and moisture into the air.

If everything was warm then our weather patterns would be highly erratic because a lot of water would be evaporating and never cooling. It is the epitome of global warming.

Waterworld is not a possibility. Our oceans would rise to an unbelievable amount but there would still be land, since the largest glaciers are actually on top of land. The rest are already displacing water, which as you know from using ice cubes, the solid mass may rise the water but as it melts the water level will not change.

I hope that answers the quesiton

In contrast to what other people are saying, the oceans WOULDN"T rise if the glaciers melted. They would rise if the temperature of the WATER heated. Thermal expansion, is what it's called.

Think of it this way: if you put ice in a drink, when the ice is melted, it doesn't rise the actual amount of water in the cup. However, if you heated the water (without ice), like when you make microwave hot chocolate, the water rises a tiny bit.

The glacier's mass is already a part of the total ocean level. It wouldn't rise if it all melted. What scientists are concerned about is if the total global temperature rises, then the water will expand, thus rising.

It's really scientific and I'm terrible at explaining things. Sorry I can't be of more help.

It will cause many coast cities to buried under the ocean and the loss will be skyrocket. Especially many cities like New York and Hong Kong who is a financial center, the rise of water level is a threat when typhoon or hurricane hits those area. Also the global warming who is causing the glacier to melt will cause more deadly storms and rain, causing millions of dollar loss for the region that hit. And plus flood will cause disease spreading around

The oceans would rise and many cities that are near the coastline would be underwater.

It would not be like an emergency like a tsunami, but gradually over many years. It will be an economic disaster for the whole world.

And the question is really more of "when" than if.
