If a black person called a white person “white trash" or some kind of racial comment, the police would not care.
But if a white person called a black person with a racial comment, it’s a criminal offence
It’s not fair!
What do you think?

Like so many people you are forgetting that discrimination is a matter of what a majority does to a minority.

If the population is 95% white, does a slur or epiphet against a white person have the same effect as it does against a black person?

To tell you the truth I am sick of discussing this...I think we ought to prosecute every time there is discrimination and let the courts decide what is discrimination and what isn't. I feel like I am talking to chimps trying to explain it.

Let's just punish people until they get the message...after all, that's what racists have been doing for years!!!!

Let's see all the little 'Jades' get what they deserve for once!!!

Well considering what African-American people suffered in the past it is really not surprising that any racial comments against them are really inappropriate ... but I really think that those kind of insults cannot be generalized anymore. It doesn't matter which race it comes from, but who (meaning the actual person) it comes from. If you know what I mean...

I don't care what you call somone; the police will never care. THEY ARE BUSY!!!

To be a racist you have to be a part of a majority that systematically believes you and yours are better than the people you are being racist toward. Like white people have been historically in America.
In addition, if I called you white trash, the only way it could hurt you is if you believe you are trash that is white.

In short, there is no crime in calling someone a name. Cut the temper tantrum short and move on to greener pastures. I will.

I agree although there hasn't been a history of racism against whites involving putting us into slavery so I think we could perhaps let the odd white trash comment pass by. It's not right though.

no person might beat a white individual up for what you describe. this is your racist strategies-set exhibiting by way of staggering there. it style of feels to me that lots of you're arguing to your staggering to be as openly racist as you prefer to be and not have any repercussions. pass forward! practice the detest and anger and worry all you like. yet strikes constantly have outcomes, vast or small, and you will possibly be able to locate that others do no longer prefer to be around you anymore.

I think you are right.

In the place where I work many people get called 'white trash' amongst other things. But if they retaliate with the same genre of comment to the people saying these things they risk getting fired or even dealings with the police.

Now that hardly seems fair, really, does it?

Lets not get into the debate.
In real life no one can stop racial comments by by anyone , be it a white person or black or brown.
Is a part of life and we all to accept it.

A white person can always respond by saying "black trash" now can't they?

There is no excuse for using the "N" word. I am Black and I don't use it.... and no other race has the right to use it! period!

You are right - the law is totally on the side of the ethnic minorities in the UK. I was on the receiving end of vicious and violent racism from a black woman who was a neighbour of mine. She even resorted to writing death threats in blood and putting them on my car - eventually she even tried running my daughter down. I wasnt the only one - other neighbours had problems too. The police wouldnt do a thing - they said she had to harm one of us first - even when I showed them the racist notes etc. they said it 'didnt work like that'. They did admit that had I been black and she white things would have been different. For the safety of my kids I ended up moving from a nice house for peace of mind xxxx

Actually there has been such a thing, look up the history of the Barbary pirates and Moulay Ismail of Morocco.
