For example, we tell kids that premarital sex is wrong, but adultery & fornication aren't a crime and are promoted all over television and rather lightly thought of in society. The bible teaches that people were made in God's image & likeness, God made everything good and that homosexuality is an abomination; yet, being "gay" is legal in this country, while simple nudity (--not a sin ),is mostly illegal & frowned upon as being gross ( -- hmm, so people think God's likeness is gross??). Kids are taught to be nonviolent, yet they have free access to MUCH violence in TV shows, movies & video games (at home, public computers, theaters). Do some celebrities cry "gun control" & promote violence in their shows/movies? Why are actors "popular", in politics, about things they're ignorant about? Women cry "equal rights" & deny it to men in areas like childcare & parental rights. Often, bad crimes are little-punished while lesser crimes or non-crimes get big punishments.

You mean like all the politicians swearing on the bible to uphold the constitution then ignoring the parts that don't fit their agenda and twisting other parts to make them fit? That's what Americans should worry about for our children & grandchildren! Everything you mentioned is very pale in comparison!

Yes I see it very clearly. It is very confussing to me and I just turned 47. I can't imagin being a teenager or younger. I some times think that people like to hoot and hollar about these things so the can lessen the guilt they feel for agreeing with the the hypocrisy. Whether loudly or silently. I think they must put on a show of "look I am an honorable person" while sneaking down the road to smoke a joint or jumping the bones of another, or lying to there bosses or wives. How sad! Then to sit and watch some of these volient shows and movies with their children then knock the crap out of them for imulating what they saw while on that "really good movie dad and mom watch with a gleem in there eyes".

Yes, I see it! But, America is not the only place we practice hypocrisy. The largest problem in the Middle East is this same problem. Their religion teaches the killing of innocents is a sin. Yet, every time you listen to the news, there is another suicide bomber blowing themselves up with innocents.
Money also determines what people do. Some of our most popular actors/actresses make 10 million or more per movie. Yet, what do they portray in movies? "M*A*S*H" was a very popular show. You can still catch reruns on some channels. But, what was Alan Alda's messages?
First, he does not promote war or violence. Hawkeye was always wanting to end the war and the killing of our young soldiers. And, this is a worthy goal. But, let's review his other messages.
Drinking and drinking to excess is OK. Technically, he play the role of an alcoholic. He could not make it thru the day without a drink. He was addicted.
Hawkeye was always chasing women. I don't remember him suducing married women, but he was a believer of enjoying sex outside the "rites of matromony."
We have an sexual active alcoholic who hates violence and war. But, lots of us, including myself, really enjoyed watching this show. I don't believe in sex outside of marriage and drinking is a sin. Does this make me a hypocrit? Am I doomed to watching only "Hallmark" movies?
I enjoy a good action movie. Some cussing is necessary for realism. You can't expect people to talk sensible when fighting. But, excessive use of bad language is not needed. I don't need the love scences or scantly dress women.
I don't believe you should watch programs that affect you negatively. Action movies do not increase my desire to go kill someone. I try to avoid shows that flaunt beautiful women. Being male, this does stir-up some lustful desires. But, it does not make me want to jump into bed with every good looking woman I meet.
I believe a major problem is the media and Hollywood. The movie producers/writers believe they know what we want or what is best for us. Yet, time and time again, a majority of the moneymakers are the kid films. And, the media is guilty of believing they know what we need to know about world affairs. They report on the killing going on in Iraq, but how many times have you seen coverage on the rebuilding of Iraq?
Everyone needs to do the best they can. We need to forgive others of their shortcomings. And, if possible, we should assist with helping others. A person should be able to contribute some time and/or money to programs that improve people's lives.

/sarcasm Because conservatives know what's best for us, dear. Now just shut up and do as you're told. Don't bother your pretty little head - we'll tell you when to have a baby, who to marry, etc. /sarcasm off

People want what's best for themselves and often overlook others when doing something. This isn't just about one group or another. Your statement tends to reinforce stereotypes, which in and of itself is hypocrisy. You are pointing it out in certain groups and not their counterparts, etc. You are in this way just as much a hypocrite. You are saying others are finger pointing and not living up to their judgements, and that's what you're doing. Treat others as you want to be treated. In other words, forgive them their hypocrisies as you would want them to forgive yours. Short answer YES.

I'm very agree with you, and i think the reason of these is because the world is between the sky and the underground, i suppose the world is very far to be perfect and people doesn't care to be hypocrite, even with their own children, fortunately i hope you teach your kids what you said, and well, they will be more prepared for the world, some people think hypocrisy is a necessary evil..., fortunately I'm not one of them.......
