nearly 18, not sexually active. it just got me thikning when some girls from school said they were 14...huh?

Current guidelines state that you should have a pap along with a regular pelvic exam if you are 21 years or older, or if you are under 21 and have been sexually active for 3 years or more. You can read more here

I first went for a pap smear when I turned 11, which is when I first started my period. I was always under the impression to go for a pap smear sometime after you start menstruating. I was very irregular when I first started out and my mom and i wanted to make sure that nothing was wrong with me down there.

I always heard it is 18 or when you become sexually active whichever comes first

When you first turn 18, the first time you have sex or if you want the first time you get your period.
