I worked with a friend of my aunts for 6 months. She recently lost clients and had to let go of workers. Through her business cell phone plan I had a cell phone. She recently stopped paying them even though I was paying her my part of the bill. Now she is with a different cell company and wants the last payment on the phone. So I offered to pay them directly with my credit card. She wants the cash. I feel she will not pay the cell bill with it and I dont owe her, I believe the money I give her should go to the cell bill? Should I give her the cash or tell her I will pay it directly myself or not at all?

Make a check out to the cell phone company and on the back write deposit only.

The law has now changed. It is possible for you to keep your number and open your own account with your number. Contact the cell phone provider and see what their policy is. Don't give her a dime. I believe you feelings concerning this are true. Face to face maybe best so that you can develop a relationship and the person can see that you need help with this. They will do more to help you and possibly make more of an effort to meet your needs. Good luck.

Most cell companies will pull your phone out of the group and let you sign a new contract to keep it. You should see if they will do that, and transfer the balance for your phone to your new contract and pay it. That way you get to keep the phone and the number and she has to clean up what she has left.

If you signed a contract for use of the phone to the phone service, I would pay it directly to the service. If you were never listed or legally obligated for payment to the service, pay your Aunt and have her give you a receipt for that payment to protect yourself if it should come up in the future.

if you were using her phone why would it matter to you what she did with the money after you pay it to her? she paid the bill before, you paid her for your part, as long as it isnt in your name it really isnt your business, pay her up to the point that you used the phone and dont worry about anything after that
