There are times that my almost 9 year old and my 6 year old still take naps. If they need one let them take one.

It depends on the child. My oldest son napped right until he went to Kindergarten. My 3-yr. old does not take naps anymore, but he sleeps later in the morning. In my experience, if they are not ready to skip naps, they will let you know by falling asleep on the living room floor a couple hours before bedtime! Then you know not to skip naps again.

Totally depends on the child. My daughter is 2 and doesn't nap at all. And hasn't for some time now.

How old is the child? Most children should take naps well into late toddlerhood (At least til 3 years old) twice a day

oh brother naps.. seems the stork didn't tell my girl about those she hasn't took naps since she was 6 months old, not typical but if the child seems to show sleepy signs lay them down for a bit

I can't say for all children but my daughter stopped napping just past her first birthday. She would occaisionally lie down in front of the television and watch Bob Ross (the painter) on PBS

That's easy. They are ready for no naps when they are not a holy terror in the evening without one.
