If an offensive word is used for a person's race or sexual orientation, we react as if the words were machine gun bullets. Meanwhile innocent children are shot and murdered by consciousless gang members, and we take them to trial only to release them back on the streets. Is something messed up here, or am I missing something?

You would think that words are more harmful than bullets by how much time is given on our news stations to what such and such person said about another person. It is almost as if journalism has devolved into juvenile high school “he said she said” exchanges.

There is a virulent disease out there and it is far more pernicious than AIDS or any form of cancer. That disease is called political correctness. When, what used to clear moral questions, such as the worthiness and dignity of life, are eclipsed by how someone feels, we have lost all sense of decency.

It is a sad predicament that murders are going to revolving door prisons, but people who might state an offensive comment are completely ostracized from the community. Case in point, Rosie O'Donnell made vitriolic comments about how rude and insensitive the American Idol judges are to many of their contestants. That issue has stayed on the national news for over a week now, and yet murders are happen all across this country, and you would be luck if they last a day in the headlines.

Until we pulverize political correctness, and get back to our traditional values, our world will never be a peaceful place.

I agree, something is wrong here. The courts are clogged up with really silly off the wall stuff. The people who get represented in court are either the rich or the poor. If your middle class, and you wind up in court, better plead guilty and get it over with. Otherwise, you have to mortgage your house, lose your job and lose it all trying to defend yourself. If you have nothing, and wind up in court, guess what? The court sees to it you get representation. Your representation will see to it you get off as lightly as possible. The system is getting worse by the day, as we get more and more lawyers in the good ol USA.

To end anothers life is a crime, but due to the fact that america would rather release 100 guilty people than sentance one innocent we have a very screwed up judicial system.
