Good question...possibility that could partly be why there is tension, but I think there is more to it than that.

I have a teenage daughter so I feel I am qualified to answer this. I have heard that this is the case for some parents, but not in my case.
I am extremely protective of my daughter and want to take care of her. I want men to treat her with respect.
I always hated it when men whistled and shouted at me, and I hate it for my very beautiful daughter, too.Yes, I'm past my prime and it doesn't bother me. I revel in the freedom it gives me.
Does that answer your question?

Honestly my mom and i had a great relationship. I know she was never jealous of me and the attention I received. She would always laugh and tell me to go and talk to them. Or tell them that she knows I'm cute and who couldn't help but look at me. Now that I am going to be a mother.. I doubt I would have jealous feelings toward my daughter. I know she is going to be beautiful and I know she is going to attract alot of attention from all the males. I could never be jealous of her... I think maybe only single mothers might have these feelings b/c i don't know why a married women would have these feelings honestly.

most of the tension between moms and daughters is because moms know what they were doing at that age and think their daughters are doing the same things.

My mom and I have tension because she is crazy. I live with my Dad's parents, and I think something in her side of the family's blood line is wacked up or something. I don't like that side of my family.
Anyway, yea, my mom wouldn't be jealous cause she is married, he is an asshole and I hate him...she loves him though for unknown reasons

No. The problem is that a lot of teen girls are idiots and their mothers get exasperated by them. Looking back, that's why my mother and I didn't get along. Also, the more time I spend with teen girls, especially the younger ones, the more i realize how clueless I was and most of them are.

Nope. I think it's cause their teen daughters don't think that they need to listen to their mothers that creates the tension.

no definitely not. (well, ok, i don't know about ALL moms, there could be some) but i think it's because moms care about there children and want there children not to do drugs, get in bad relationships, get bad grades, skip school, etc. and the teen girls WANT to do those things, or could do those things. there are always fights because moms want their kids to make something of themselves one day, and want there kids to be happy!!

I don't know...there are some pretty hot mom's out there that put their daughters to shame. Remember Stacy's Mom...she had it going on.

no i dont think its that. my mom is getting married to a really great guy so im sure shes not jealous of guys looking at me. jealous or not she gets mad every time a guy looks at me because she thinks every guy is out to rape me so when ever she see this she gives me the "men are sick and will want to have sex with you" speech
