My husband and I are already trying out baby names, even though we are just a few weeks along and don't know the gender. We really like nature names.

He is calling the baby Penelope (!). If we have twin girls (they do run in my family!) he half jokingly wants to call them Penelope and Clementine. He also likes Cotton for a boy, even though the chances of the two of us producing a fair-headed child is nil.

Some serious choices are Creek ______, Malcolm Ash, and _____ Cotton for boys and Wren Alexandra, Meadow Leigh, and Hazel Olivia (after a grandmother) for girls.

What do you think? Or do you have some good nature names for us to consider. Nature names seem particularly hard for boys . . .

Hazel Olivia is beautiful! I really like that name :-) As for boys I think that Creek would be hard on a child, other kids can be really mean. I like the name Malcom Ash...here are a few other suggestions:

August
Sage
Clay
Forrest
River

You could also check out this website it had a bunch of nature names:

Hope this is somewhat helpful!

First of all, congrats! I think it's great that you are looking for a nature name. I love when there is meaning behind names... so many times I see kids with names that look like the parents just banged on a keyboard, and the result is their child's name :-)

Boys

Leif--and pronounce it "Leaf"
Adam--Hebrew (I think?) for ground/soil/'from the earth'
River--Like River Phoenix, or Rivers Cuomo
Hawk(e)--maybe even for a girl?
Ray--Like the sun
Dewey

Girls

Gaia--Greek goddess personifying the earth
Skye
Rainn
Aurora--Roman goddess of dawn
Dawn
Lots of names of flowers

I personally do not like Cotton too much. Wren is OK, but I personally do not feel much excitement for it. Meadow Leigh is very pretty. "Malcolm Ash" is a nice combo. Creek is... well, I think it really depends on the middle name (monosyllabic names are nice to pair up with longer middle names).

Again, congrats and good luck!

Personally I like Laken..which is semi a nature name since it does have lake in it. But I have a friend that named her lil boy River. And I have a friend with the middle name of Rain. But Good Luck.

Hazel Olivia is really pretty. Forest is pretty nice but if it is a girl- rose, or any-flower would be pretty
