I'm sorry to hear that your association went to 6 v 6. It's a shame that it can't field enough players to make an 11 v 11 league. In any case, as the number of players on the field decreases, the importance of dribbling skill increases (because when there are fewer defenders to get past, the chances of dribbling through the defense increases). Therefore a great drill is to dribble through cones. Set a line of cones spaced about 5 feet apart and dribble through them, from one side to the other. Do this using both feet, then just your right, and then just your left.

Individual defense also becomes more important with fewer players. A good drill for that (and for passing accuracy) is to have five players on offense in a space about half the size of the penalty box. Two defenders are in the middle trying to steal the ball as the offense passes back and forth. If the ball is stolen by the defense then the person from whom it was stolen goes to defense and the defender who was in the middle longest goes on offense. Also, if the ball goes outside of the half penalty box area then the person who kicked it out goes on defense.

Good luck, and I hope your kids have fun!
