We have been together for over a year and it just feels like we should be further in our relationship, like atleast talking about marriage or where we want to be at with each other in the future.. How do I know if he wants to ?

I don't want to just go up to him and tell him, ...not tryin to scare him away with that if he is not ready. It' just he has been married before and yeah...

Ok, us guys are scared as hell about marriage. Not because we dont love you or anything like that, but the fact that what if something happens. No matter how much in love you are, there would always be that little thought in the back of your mind. 2/3 of marriages end in divorce, 40% of spouses cheat, all that. If hes not mentioning anything by now, he must be scared. Talk to him about it and the #1 thing a guy needs no matter what is reassurance. He needs to know you are the only person that makes your heart flutter, you blood rising, all of that and he needs to hear it everyday. Not just words, but actions as well.

Don't invest more than 2 - 3 yrs. in a relationship without marriage.
1 yr. is plenty of time to start talking to him about the subject...
Ask him it he thinks he will ever re-marry...
Ask him when..
Ask him if he has anyone in mind...

easy....tell him I mean do you know how he feels about you? Say something like...Baby I can really see us together forever, i want to take care of you and be the best wife i can be for you, you mean that much to me.... worked for me i'm getting married next March

ask him what he wants for the future...
that way your not directly asking him if you are in his future, but you get an idea of his wishes and wants, and you can discover how he feels in general.
you can then make decision after he tells you of his ambitions and future
