As for rollover cable, usually is Cisco console cable that can be used to connect computer terminal to a router's console port to do configuration.

I agree with Daryl, Cross over is PC to PC and must be at least 3' long, Straight through is to a Router.

most routers will accept cross over or straight ethernet to your pc.s.
cross over is essential when you connect two pc.s with out a router
